We support service users to budget their personal allowances.
Melba Lodge staff also support service users in developing their latent skills which includes, domestic skills development, cooking skills training and development of social skills such that they are able to move on to live more independently in the community.
It is staff’s responsibility to liaise with appropriate clinical and specialist organisations that work and counsel service users on how to cope with their illness and manage their needs. This we do through regular Reviews, CPAs, Out Patients’ appointment and the Support Planning process. A number of behaviour management skills are used by our staff with support from appropriate agencies in dealing with the service users’ behaviour and assessed needs.
Furthermore, our staff offer advice and support in helping service users to maintain their Licence Agreement and financial independence. Staff from time to time, review service users’ benefits entitlement aimed at ensuring that service users are claiming the maximum allowable welfare benefits.
