About Us

Melba Lodge is a CQC registered 24 hour Residential Home for eight adults with Mental Health problems, Learning Disabilities and early Dementia. We have two homes located within a short distance of each other. We are based in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and close to local facilities and transport links.All residents will have a single self-contained bedroom exclusively for their own use and have a communal use of a kitchen, dining room, lounge bathroom, toilets and a large garden.

What we do

  • Encourage residents to learn social skills essential to their day to day living through activities and partnership with staff.
  • Promote the highest standard of quality care in pleasant and friendly surroundings.
  • Empower and encourage residents to participate fully in their individual needs and the organisation of their care plans.
  • Enable residents to move onto live independently in the community and to maximise their potential as much as possible.
  • Support to access existing community-based services & agencies.
  • Help to build confidence, self-esteem & life skills.
  • Support to create & build new social networks.
  • We provide Respite Care and Short/Long Term Placements.

Aims & Objectives

The Lodge aims and endeavours to:

  • Provide residents with a safe and secure homely accommodation by offering residents support, which is flexible enough to respond to individual needs and foster comfortable community living.
  • Provide culturally sensitive support which will ensure that a cultural ethos is reflected in all aspects of residents daily living including music, literature, food, decor etc. and support programmes would also aim at meeting residents ethnic and cultural needs.
  • Create an atmosphere which would enable residents maintain their individuality and personal dignity and ensure the appropriate balance of privacy, independence and safety in service provision for each resident.
  • Provide practical support and assistance to residents to develop their daily living skills, learn new skills and regain lost skills in order to move on to independent accommodation if/when appropriate.
  • Provide support, in conjunction with outside agencies, enabling residents to access community and statutory services in order to minimise the risk of mental health relapse.
  • Involve residents in drawing up their support programme, offer choices to enable residents self determine and their lifestyles.
  • Actively promote the rights of residents as citizens and develop ways for residents to form links with the local community.
  • Ensure that no resident is discriminated against, either directly or indirectly, on the basis of their race, colour, nationality, sexuality, gender, age, disability or religious belief.
